I'm 19!!!
Like whee! Adulthood! Or something like that. Actually I always thought adulthood began at 18. But after my 18 birthday, I don't feel the least bit like an adult. More like a grumpy granny (or being haunted by one, i.e my mom) or something. But yea nonetheless, I survived another year. 18 was the most hectic number by far, FYP, IAP, and a screwed up semester. And well, the one thing that never changed the gloomy aspect of my love life. But yea, oh well, screw that, who needs BGR when you have chocolates. *stares at boxes of chocolate presents* Yea that's right gurl, my parents got smart this year and bought me chocolates instead of random stuff I don't need. However... *wheezes* I think I'm coming down with something bad. And I'm hoping I (don't) recover in time for presentations and whatnots.
Random minion: How was your Christmas? *beams benevolently*
*bats minion* I DON'T celebrate Christmas. To me, it's just another over commercialized festival same as Valentine's Day (yes yes, I'm still sore because I get nothing on both occasions, except loads of over-eager beavers trying to convert me. Well, up yours! I love being semi religion-less). And since I'm somewhat atheist, I don't go doing what other Christmas people are doing, i.e: go church, give presents (oh the chore of picking out a suitable gift...), visit people (I dread that even on Chinese New Year), go parties (especially when I know less then 5% of the people going, which is almost the norm because of my largely unknown extended family from some secluded parts of the universe), preach non-Christmas people like me, etc etc. Actually, if the festive crowds don't exist at all, I'd love to go shopping, and wind down with a nice cuppa and a slice of cake. Day as usual for me. Minus the stress and the work, and the disappointing people in my life, yea, perfect.
Speaking of cake... I DIDN'T HAVE ANY!!! *sobs dramatically* It's my birthday you know! I understand the bit about log cakes being sold out and stuff, BUT I DON'T EAT LOG CAKES! I just want a simple strawberry shortcake, or Tiramisu, or Chocolate Truffle cake, or something-or-other-fancy-topping cake. BUT I GET NONE! Why!? I've been soooooooooooooooooo good this year and what do I get? A trip to our dearest neighboring country "because Dad has a day off". Like WHAT?? FYI, we've BEEN THERE on the last time "Dad has a day off" which was less than a week before. WHAT MAKES THEM THINK I WANNA GO THERE AGAIN when the stuff there are so mediocre in quality, traffic equally bad, sucky security, bad food (you don't wanna know what they did to the food, or how many toilet visits I had). And what did I do there? Oh, shopping. Except, the shops there are 1/5(or smaller, interior decor EXTREMELY SUCKY) the size of shops here (imagine mini Topshop, Espirit, Guess, and a very cheap looking Calvin Klein... *faints*) Puh-lease, I get more thrill just watching my nails grow 1 cm. And the crowd. Seriously, it's Hehex country, all their bad English plastered everywhere. You don't have to go China to gawk at horrible signs, just cross over the bridge and viola "Kindly, all lights are separate from displays" But I digress. I wasn't there to enjoy myself apparently. How to, when I had major headache (not because of my chocolate binge obviously... *cough*), and all mom wants to do is go grocery shopping (the HORROR) and dad wants to eat duck (bad choice, a combination of hehex people talking loudly, BAD hygiene, HORRIBLE TOILET EXPERIENCE, so expected, and horrible food, expensive price for such low class food). I should have stuck to my guts and stayed at home with a good book, a cup of coffee and loads of animation. And yea, the immigration officers on our side are much friendlier (and more yummy looking), then the people across the bridge.
I need cake... And mom is nagging nagging nagging. I'm thinking adulthood is when I reach 50, with one foot in the grave, bills to pay, and looking forward to CPF (that is if I am still, unfortunately, living in SG).
