IM BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK
With a vengence. Muahahhaha. I got a battting Teddy. Thanks Hammy *evil grins* First off, I;'m now at work, so i'll keep this entry as short as I can. Oh my, to sum up 40+ hours of sleepless nights... Hm... Odd.
Anyway, 3 days ago, I went to Code-a-thon. As anyone in the know would know, this is 30 hours of programming hell. For me, it's a crazy emotional cycle. Happy, tired, stressed, depressed, happy, mental, happy, nuts, then when waiting for the judging, positively nervous and also sad (will explain why later). THen when results are out, happy, sad, then happy. When get home, hallucinating, depressed (but no energy to cry), then sleep. Finally, sleep.
So yes, why the flux of emotions anyway? Well first off, I'm gleeful to announce that I was the designer/artist. So, NO PRGORAMMING! And I finsihed my stuff rather fast, just needed to touch up later. Donut didn't join after all. Hm oh well, no matter. So all's well for the code-a-thon proper. Just spent my time walking around, bugging people, batting people (with the batting Teddy of course), poooping, watching "Will it blend" - a real appetite killer, yes, going mental obviously, no pretty guys to look at, so 2 hours watching the Gazette PVs (God bless them), and rescuing (and failing) my Pink Bear from the clutches of evil Adrian (never saw a guy that enthu about bears like him). Er yes, and Diarrhea... Why? Cos I told Buggy to make me coffee, and surprisingly, he did. Awww. so sweet... Yes sweet, Too sweet for my tastebuds ="= But he didnt add sugar, and it was the usual brand of coffee I drink, he just added more creamer to make the poofy top (and failed), and 3 stirrers (so gourmet - not). Prolly too little water. But still, it's the thought that counts. *hugs Buggy* Anyway, that about sums up the code-a-thon I see in my waking hours (29 hours to be exact).
Then, the judging. Suppose to start at 4pm, but, delayed til 5.30pm thereabouts. Was dying already. Then, Buggy spammed "Will it blend". Saw Donut, and his chubby looking date. Yes it's confirmed. She's the one in Kino and Donut's date... *emo* Spoiled my day. Donut prolly likes her for her personality then. Let me be mean ok... If Donut liked her for her looks I would die and give up, because obviously, there's no way I'll let myself look like her (though I'm somewhat there), or have her dress sense, and Donut has completely weird taste. During Judging, was a complete bore. Cos some games are like... snoozeville, graphics-wise horrible. Even the one that won Best Visual got condemned by me graphics-wise. They prolly won due to political reasons. So SG-like... zzz. Obviously, we won, else I wouldn't ever recover from the emotional shock Donut sent my way. Best XNA, thanks mainly to Hanhan's preparation, and LowLow's and Hammy's non stop coding. Wahaha. *Kisses trophy* We got a cool $2k to split, an Xbox 360 (boooooo) and 2 Xbox 360 games (a real shocker, totally not expecting the generousity of the organisers). Some booboos were made when giving out the prize, but, not really my business, since we were rather glad to be rid of the Xbox360 for a couple of days. Preferably, they could sell it for us and cash the money into our accounts. Muahaha. Anti-Microsoft people...
Then the aftermath. Sore legs, blurry brains, muffled hearing, sleepy eyes, deep eyebags *faints*, aching shoulders. Reached home and bro 1 announced "Sis, Rei died". *Drop dead on corridor* I haven't even stepped in when this shocker slammed me. OMG. I really had no energy to cry, or emo... So I stared at Ruru after I bathed and cleared my stuff (always the rational one, me...), til I got so tired, I died in my bed, wishing I was still at the Code-a-thon, that I never heard Rei died or saw Donut's date. You know, I would really give up my prize and all if that's what it takes to get Rei-chan back. It aint worth it. I wasn't even there when he died. And I don't even know how he left us. I'm left with Ruru, and I swear he looks positively bored (and maybe sad even), now that his brother is gone. Mom even offered to buy a new gerbil. Thanks mom, but I was right, you can't just get a new one to replace Rei like nothing happened. For one, I'll know it isn't Rei, even if it looked like him, and Ruru will prolly bite the newcomer to death (See: Razor sharp teeth polished with ruined bottle caps). Besides, I would have to get Ruru to the petshop to choose his new occupant. That's what the petshop guy said. Pretty anti-social animals, hamsters and gerbils are (Blade almost killed the Sapphire breed Dad got when Shredder died). Nothing can replace Rei, Shredder or Blade (whatever happened to him...). Ruru will probably be my last pet, seeing how emo I got when Rei died... Mom will prolly never let anything but fish (and maybe dogs) into the household.
After Code-a-thon Day 1:
Still recovering from multiple shocks and bruises, I reported at Suntec CC Lv 3 at 8.30 am as ordered by Mr Lim, for prize presentation. Like all opening ceremony, there HAS to be some minister as Guest-of-Honor. And DEFINITELY WILL HAVE some long speeches of stuff that doesn't concern anyone in particular. The odd thing is, majority of the gaming generation are very young, but the people pushing this market and organising this event are old and greying, and maybe halfway to their deathbeds. No wonder the events are so hum-drum. I was playing Mario kart when the Guest-of-Honor Mr What's-his-name arrived. So funny, the "whee~" when Mr Guest-of-Honor took his seat. The juniors positively cracked up. When I collected my prize, Mr Guest-of-Honor said "Finally, a girl" What? Oh nvm, I'm used to this anyway. Just ignored him and smiled at the cam, hoping my glasses and smile wrinkles would hide the pimples and eyebags induced by Code-a-thon. We wasted time later, explaining our game to anyone who looked remotely interested. Funny thing was, during presentation to Mr Guest-of-Honor, Dojo (1 of the minigame) exploded with a debug error message. Cool stuff.
We waited a few hours, cos we had to present to our Principal (some balding guy we never saw before), and then waited some more for our Xbox360. Then we explored the place, came back with loads of goodies. Love the bags, Asiasoft and Razor, who wouldn't love the satorical Black and Green combi of razor, with the snake emblem that ooze utter coolness and ominous intent? Then waited longer after Mr Quah discovered some booboo in the prizes (one team wasnt' suppose to receive the Xbox360), so we waited, til we got sick, so we went for lunch. Came back and decided to win a Razor for ourselves. Winning condition: Frag the guy twice, get a mouse, win the game, get the entire Razor set. COol eh> just twice. But we didn't read the fine print. The guy is Asia's Quake 3 champion. And, we haven't played Quake 3. The announcer was so mean saying "Up next is Melissa, the first female player of the day, who looks nervous, but I got hope in her, she could probably be the next Rocketgirl" *bats him*. My opponent was Rocketboy Asia Champion of Quake 3. And I cant shoot to save my life. So obviously, a miracle happened, like his screen blackout or something, when I managed to (in the middel of a spinning screen, shaking shoulders, cold and stiff fingers and brain hemorrhage) frag him twice. Maybe, just maybe, I got lucky. BUt I'm 99% sure he let me win. He dind't change weapons, and he didn't backstab me. He even CHUCKLED during the game. Drats. But I got my mouse. Hurray.
Pretty tiring day, so today, I'm trying to wake sleepy brain up, thinking of concluding the game design and helping with the art because I think, I can't stand seeing horrible or childish (that's what happens in this case) art for my games.
Wish me luck. And I hope Rei was happy being with me... I loved you Rei.
